Principal Antenna Design Engineer

Southern California

 

For this large, established and successful manufacturer with an international presence, you be responsible for the design, prototyping and diagnostics of antennas.

Demand of their products remains strong despite impact of current recession.

Responsible for taking antennas from the early design stage through production.

Management of antenna projects to ensure that performance, cost and schedules are met.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Position requires a self starter to develop both advanced and low cost antenna products.
Able to perform technical research, interpreting of fluid marketing requirements, interpreting industry specifications, designing specifications, designing antennas and antenna systems.
Responsible for prototyping in a lab environment, measuring results and transferring and presenting these results in an effective manner to the product development team.
Drive antenna designs in both single and multiple bands.
Responsible for research in the following areas: electrical phase tilt, beam steering and MIMO systems.
Able to work and collaborate with mechanical engineers, technicians and all members of engineering team.

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
PhD with at least seven years OR MSEE/BSEE with at least ten years of experience designing antennas.

Requisite Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Extensive experience designing antennas in all wireless bands including Cellular, GMS, DCS, PCS and UMTS. Experience with WiMax antennas up to 3.5 GHz a plus.
Knowledge of distributed and active antenna design.
Experience in research environment is a plus. Experience with some common analysis software tools is required.
Knowledge of design for manufacturing is required. A track record of patents and published papers is a plus.
Position might include travel to Europe and Asia to work with customers, test your designs and monitor manufacturing vendors.
Experience with simulation tools such as HFSS, ADS.
Demonstrated exceptional verbal and written communication skills that clearly convey information and ideas. Able to lead design reviews and present concepts to senior management.
Ability to use Word, Excel, Microsoft Project and Visio software programs, to a level of professional proficiency.

Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound; faster than a speeding bullet; more powerful than a 4-8-8-4 steam locomotive 

Able to produce professional Engineering reports including introductions, conclusions and recommendations.
Ability to analyze and resolve highly complex technical problems quickly and independently.
Proven capability to give meaningful presentations to design teams and customers that are professional and clearly convey information.

Ability to demonstrate strong and experienced technical leadership.

Ability to lead projects to on-time completion of deliverables.

 

Remuneration:

Up to $150K base salary plus bonus
